About Ellie Loo

  • My name is Ellie Loo. I am from Bakersfield, California and currently reside in San Francisco. I am an interdisciplinary artist that draws from past traumatic experiences and the impact they have made on my own identity. I use various mediums to express myself through my art. Among others, I currently work with photography and various forms of text. I focus on the chaos within life and the way that trauma embeds itself into who we are. I strive to empower and inspire those who identify with my work. There is a satisfaction in finding a common language between yourself and others, and I use my practice to communicate the secrets and emotions that are tied to my own narrative. By focusing on the past that society often ignores and hides, I bring what makes people vulnerable to the foreground, encouraging everyone to feel like they can speak and be heard.
